A FLAVORFUL JOURNEY THROUGH THE FRESH FOOD HEART OF FLORENCE!

Tuscany has one of the best culinary traditions in Italy, get ready to taste a simple and humble cuisine made of excellent simple recipes, use the best virgin olive oil, fresh seasonal ingredients and the deed is done!

During this 4-hours culinary experience an English-speaking tour guide will take you by the hand into a gastronomic trip of Tuscan food culture, you will learn how to discern the traditional excellent food from the touristic traps, in Tuscany excellency is the key word, during our tour you will taste and see only the best Florence can offer.

Starting in Piazza dell'Unità Italiana we will enter the central market then pass by the San Lorenzo Church and San Giovanni square; get ready to admire the Santa Maria del Fiore Cathedral complex, the Paradise Door of the Baptistery, the incredible Dome realized by the famous architect Filippo Brunelleschi and the outstanding Giotto's bell tower; the tour will end just in front of Santa Croce church.

A leisure walk will bring us to the Duomo square we'll be impressed by this majestic complex, words cannot completely express the feeling of admiration we experience while standing in front of this incredible work of art. Be prepared to lose yourself into the perfumes and flavors of the fresh pasta, truffle olive oil and balsamic vinegar, pecorino cheese, ham, cured meat, traditional crostini, vegetable (ribollita) and bread tomatoes (pappa al pomodoro) soups. Be certain to leave room for the dessert, you can’t miss the sweet fried bread and our food walking tour grand finale: a huge artisanal ice-cream!

This was the first of 3 tours we did with the company and our guide set the bar pretty high for the others to follow. Demetra is a charming young lady with a great personality. Her knowledge of both the food and history of Florence made for a enjoyable evening. We were lucky to be meeting our friends Keith and Karina on the tour and we were joined by Jeff and Lauran, a lovely young couple from Nashville. The 6 of us had a fantastic time as Demetra guided us from one fantastic meal to the next and along the way pointed out historical places and interesting things that we would of never noticed on our own. Another bonus of an even food tour is that the city comes alive in a different way at night and one thing is sure Italians do know how to enjoy themselves. Congratulations Demetra and Martra you have a winning formula and i hope it continues to go well for you. A highly recommended tour.

We had wonderful evening with Demetra. She was a very friendly and sincere guide. We did the tour on the first evening. She took us to many amazing places to eat and drink. We would never be able to find such special places by ourselves (even after three days in Florence). It was a great opportunity to try local food with local people. At each restaurant we were treated as special guests by the staff. Demetra told many stories about different food and how they were produced / prepared. She has researched a lot and talked to many restaurant owners to prepare this tour so that the guests can try the best local food and wine! We re-visited some restaurants/shops she introduced us on the next few days. It was great as we knew these places were good and we were able to try something new at the same places. Demetra said she does not eat at all during the tour but as we really liked her and become good friends with her, we thought it would have been nice if she also had tried some food with us (just like friends get together, eat and drink together). Also at the end we were so full so it would have been good if she could have helped us finish what was on the plate (it was shame to waste such great food). We will definitely do this tour again next time we visit Florence and next time please eat and drink with us Demetra.

We are so glad we booked this! We were the only two to have booked that evening so we had our own personal tour with Giada. She was a such a delight and showed us how and where the locals do “Happy Hour”. Giada is an official tour guide of the city, and also a local so she had lots of fun and interesting stories about Venetian life. I would definitely recommend taking this tour to get a taste of authentic Venetian lifestyle.
